Marie Was Born Today
December 17, 1921
I remember coming home not so long ago. Marie was waiting. She could hardly wait to tell of memorizing Romans, but for the very last chapter. I watched her eyes as she watched mine while reading each page from memory. Can still see her smile, a bittersweet smile. It was her heart's desire that all be saved:
"For whosoever shall call upon the name of the Lord shall be saved" (Romans10:13).
But what is His name?
"And she shall bring forth a son, and thou shalt call his name JESUS: for he shall save his people from their sins" (Matthew 1:21)
"How then shall they call on him in whom they have not believed? and how shall they believe in him of whom they have not heard? and how shall they hear without a preacher? And how shall they preach, except they be sent"? (Romans 10:14-15).
Marie, like many others, was sent. She was one of many preachers. The words she read are still heard by those who would believe. And in believing, are able to call upon the name of the Lord.
"That if thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus, and shalt believe in thine heart that God hath raised him from the dead, thou shalt be saved. For with the heart man believeth unto righteousness; and with the mouth confession is made unto salvation.... For whosoever shall call upon the name of the Lord shall be saved" (Romans 10:9-10, 13).
